A collection of thoughts and observations around the image of a sand dune used as the default wallpaper image of Apple’s Mac OS Mojave operating system. This software is named after the land of the Mojave peoples in the USA. The sand dune - a land form under continuous change - is fixed by the photograph into the S-shaped line advocated by Hogarth’s aesthetic theory, ‘The Line of Beauty’. In an attempt to rethink the photo, the video tries conversation and body gesture. It misuses Hogarths’ text to consider the dune as being hollow and to imagine looking out from the inside.
And, yes, you really can buy ‘desert sand’ for pets in the UK.
